A Vintage Retro Art Deco C1930s Single Cinema Theatre Seat Chair No 9 REF4

A vintage or retro Art Deco circa 1930s single cinema, theatre seat or chair, with stencilled seat number 9, and upholstered in a red velvet material. The seat is formed with the back being curved, with a polished wooden top rail. The seat back is padded and upholstered in a rich red velvet material. The back of the seat is polished wood. The base of the seat folds down and is again deeply padded and upholstered in the same red velvet material, the bottom of the seat is covered in a polished wood, with a stencilled seat number this is number 9. To the bottom of the seat there is also a cast iron seat weight, this lifts the seat back up when you get out. The arms on the cinema seat are made from cast iron, which have been painted gold. The arms have a bit of design to them with the sides being pierced. To the tops of the arms there is a shaped and polished wooden arm rest. The chair dates to around 1930 and was removed from a cinema near Peterborough. The chair freestands fine, but can be screwed to the floor or a mount. The chair would be ideal for use in a hallway, café seating, barbers shop or hairdressers, or just as a talking point.

Condition
The condition of the chair is very good, the material on the seat has various ware patches from use over the years. The bottom of the seat and back have small burn marks again from years of people stubbing cigarettes out on it, again I believe this adds character. There is also light scuffs and marks but overall ready to be used for years to come.
