A Quality Antique Mahogany Framed Gainsborough Open Armchair Freshly Reupholstered in Stylised Velvet

A great looking antique carved mahogany Gainsborough open arm chair, which has been freshly reupholstered in a stylised red velvet material. The chair is made of mahogany, which has a good colour and grain patination. The chair is formed with the back having a shaped top rail. The back has then been recently fully repadded and then reupholstered in a stylised red velvet over light gold material. The arms come scrolling out of the back and again are fully repadded and upholstered and then have a studded edge. To the fronts of the arms they have polished mahogany edges, with floral roundels to the top and shaped sections coming down to the seat, the seat is again fully padded and upholstered with studded edges, same as the sides and back of the chairs. The base of the chair it is raised square reeded front legs and angled back legs. It has a H shaped strengthening bars between the legs. The chair probably dates to around 1900-1920 but as mentioned has been fully rejuvenated to give new lease of life, and be ready to be used, as fireside chair or office chair.
