Description

A Victorian Carved and Inlaid Walnut Bedroom or Side Chair Raised on Tapering Spade Feet

A quality Victorian carved and turned walnut bedroom, parlour or side chair, raised on tapering spade feet. The chair is made from walnut so has a good rich colour and grain patination. The chair is formed with the back rest being inlaid with bone stringing and then fruit wood inlay across the top of swags, scrolls, leaves and flower heads. The back has a small upholstered back rest done in a mint green colour. Below this there is a row of thin turned bars. The base of the seat is again padded and upholstered in the same mint green coloured material. The arms on the chair are slender and supported on turned columns and have bone stringing across the tops of them. The whole chair is raised on tapering spade feet to the front and splayed back legs, with turned supported between the legs. The chair dates to around 1890. This isn’t a chair for heavy use, like as a dining chair would be better for a bedroom or a side chair.

Size
Height 33.25”
Width 19.5”
Depth 17.5”

Condition
The condition of the chair is excellent, there has been an old repair on one arm but that’s solid. Overall a great chair ready to placed.
