A Victorian Egyptian Grand Tour Jewellery Casket Storage Box Sphinx Heads
A great looking Victorian grand tour jewellery casket, dressing table box, with Egyptian sphinx motifs and brown Moroccan leather body. The casket is formed with it being square formed with a cantered base rim. The body of the casket is covered in a Moroccan leather in brown, with gilt highlights. The top has a cantered rim and is then adorned with studded corner corner mounts, each having a raised sphinx head motif to the centre of it. To the centre of the top there is a star shaped metal motif again with a large deep raised sphinx head. Opening the case it is lined in a grey wool and having a polished oak base. The box dates to around 1880, and would be a Grande tour souvenir piece brought back to remind of a holiday tour.

Condition
The condition of the box is excellent, with light scuffs and marks to the leather, a couple of corners edges have knocks. A couple of the sphinx’s heads have been a little crushed and mis shapen over the years. The interior lining is a replacement but great looking.
