A Victorian Black Marble Cased 8 Day Mantle Clock

A Victorian black marble cased eight day mantle clock. The mantle clock is formed with the case being made from black marble or slate which is really heavy. The case is has a stepped plinth and cantered edges with a flat thin top. To the front of the case it has patterns engraved into it. The designs are of flowers and stylized designs. The dial of the clock is behind a glass door. The dial is also black marble with gilt painted Roman numerals. It has a gilt ring on the inside and gilt metal handles. Opening the door on the back it shows the French cylinder movement and then the coiled gong which chimes half hourly. The clock comes with its original key and pendulum. The clock dates to around 1880.

The condition of the clock is very good, It hasnt been checked for it running over a long period so cannot be guaranteed. There are a couple of small marks to the marble.
