A Georgian Mahogany Hepplewhite Style Dining or Hall Chair Purple Velvet
A Georgian mahogany Hepplewhite style dining or hall chair, which has been traditionally reupholstered in a purple velvet material. The chair is made from mahogany, which has a great colour and grain patination. The chair is formed with the back rest having a serpentine top. It then has a carved and pierced back rest. The chairs seat has a serpentine front and has recently been traditionally reupholstered in a purple velvet material, and with studded edge around the front legs. The whole chair is raised on tapering square front legs and shaped back legs. The chair then has cross stretchers between the legs. The chair probably dates to around 1780. The chair would be ideal as a single chair in a bedroom, hallway or living room.

Condition
The condition of the chair is excellent, with light scuffs and marks. There has been an old repair to the pierced back splat but this is solid. Overall a great antique chair ready to be placed and used.
