A Set of Four Victorian Rosewood Balloon Back Dining Chairs Raised on Fluted Legs

A set of four Victorian rosewood balloon back dining chairs, raised on turned and fluted legs and upholstered in tapestry seat bases. The chairs are made from rosewood, which has a lovely rich colour and great grain patination. The chairs are formed with them having the shaped balloon back rests. The back rest has a small carved turning to the underside of the top bar, and then the bottom support bar is carved more with swirls and a roundel to the centre. The chair seat is serpentine fronted. The seat is padded and upholstered in a turquoise blue wool tapestry seat, each has a spray of rose flowers and leaves in the centre. The chairs are raised on turned and fluted front legs which taper down in size. The back legs are angled backwards. The chairs date to around 1840.

Size
Height 32.75”
Width 18”
Depth 19”

Condition
The condition of the chairs are excellent, with light scuffs and marks, two of the seat bases are a slightly lighter colour due to fading over the years. There a little bit of wear to the seats edge trim. Overall a good set of Victorian rosewood chairs.
