Description
An Impressive Early C20th Carved Marble Planter on Carved Marble Pedestals
A very fine looking late C19th early C20th Carved Marble Planter, Raised on scrolling Carved Marble pedestals. The Planter or trough is made from solid marble, which has a grey to white colouration. The Planter is rectangular in shape and is carved to all four sides. The planters sides are carved with panels of vines, leaves and berries all on a textured background. Around the edge of the panel it is framed with a border of plain leaves and flier de lyes to the corners. The Planter has a very thick rim. The Planter is supported on a pair of carved marble pedestals. The pedestals are lyre shape with scrolling supports to the base. Each is carved with leaves and berries, with scrolling supports with acanthus leaves. The Planter and pedestals are all separate pieces so it doesn’t have to be placed on the pedestals. The pedestal Planter dates to late C19th to early C20th. It s very very heavy.

Condition
The condition of the pedestal Planter is very good, there is the odd small chip nick to the edges of the planter and pedestals. On one side of the Planter there is a larger chip, as seen in the images but this takes nothing away from how impressive the Planter on the pedestals looks.
