An Early C20th Oak Butter Churn on Pine Stand by Melotte Separator Sales Co Bristol

An early C20th oak butter churn, with cast iron mounts by Melotte Serarator Sales Co Ltd of Bristol on pine base all with waxed finish. The butter churn barrel is made from oak staves. This is then held together with iron rings and then cast iron fixtures. The base of the churn has a cast iron weight added. To the top it has the four twisting lockable nuts to keep the top in place. There is also a brass pressure release button, small viewing window and enamelled name plate for Melotte Separator Sales Co Ltd of Bristol. The churn is moulded on a pine base with cast iron mounts to the top. The whole barrel and base have had a couple of coats of clear wax added to give it a shine and protect the wood. The butter churn would make a great display item or prop.

Condition
The condition of the butter churn is excellent, with light wear and putting through age to the metal areas. The wooden stand is worn on the foot rests through years for people using it as a foot rest. The barrel is great a couple of staves have light cracks on the, which are solid and not all way through. The metal clip pin to hold the barrel in place is slightly bent so not easiest to clip in.
