Description
An Antique Scratch or Homemade Childs Painted Cart Formed as a Hay Cart
A very unusual antique home made or scratch built child’s pull along cart, formed as a Dutch hay cart. The cart is formed with it being made out of old painted and waxed pine. The sides of the cart are angled outwards and have a painted decoration to the sides. To the back of the cart it has spindles supporting a gallery back. The inside of the cart it wooden planks. All the wood has been waxed and waxed over the years and has a smooth feel to it. The whole cart is raised on rubber and metal wheels probably taken off an old go kart. The back wheels are fixed but the front wheels move so it’s able to turn freely when being pulled. There is an old rope handle. This is a very cute child’s primitive toy, most probably now used as decoration or for display use. The cart probably dates to around 1920-30s.
