A Victorian Carved Walnut Glazed Bookcase Raised on Cupboard Base

A Tall Victorian carved walnut bookcase cabinet with glazed top and cupboard base. The bookcase is made from walnut which has a good rich colour and grain patination. The bookcase is formed with the top section being set with two large glazed doors. Down either side of the doors it has an incised line carving. Opening the bookcase it has three shelves, which gives great storage or display areas. The base section is set with two top drawers each with moulded edges. These are above two cupboard doors. Each cupboard door is set with a heavily carved panel, carved with scrolls and swags. Opening the cupboard doors it is set with a single shelf, again adding more storage areas. The whole cabinet is raised on a caddy plinth and has a stepped cornice. The cabinet splits into two sections so can easily be moved. The cabinet dates to around 1880-1890.

The condition of the bookcase is excellent, with light scuffs and marks, overall very good for age and ready to be used for years to come.
