A Regency Mahogany Workbox or Sofa Table Raised on Paw Feet and Lyre Supports

An excellent looking Regency mahogany workbox or sofa side table, which is raised on paw feet and twin lyre supports. The work box is made from mahogany, which has a great colour and grain patination. The work box is formed it having two dummy drawers on either side, each set with small turned handles. The top of the box has rounded edges and lifts up to revile a sewing storage area. This is lined with a pleated turquoise material around the edge and a padded base. The work boxes base is formed with the main supports being lyre shaped and then four scrolling legs coming off. Each leg has a well carved lion paw foot to the base with casters. Between the legs there is a turned strengthening bar. The workbox is of a great size and could be used as a side table, sofa table or just as a workbox. The workbox dates to around 1820-40.

Condition
The condition of the workbox is excellent, it has recently been repolished, but we have left it showing its age. There is the odd light scuff and mark. The interior has been relined. Overall ready to be placed and used.
