A Quality Victorian Pollard Oak Secretaire Desk Over Cupboard Base

A very good quality early Victorian pollard oak secretaire desk, raised over two, door cupboard base and with fully fitted interior. The desk cabinet is made from pollard oak, which gives it amazing grain patination and it has a wonderful colour throughout. The desk is formed with it having a stepped and angled top rim. It then has a fall front desk section to the front. The front of the fallfront has angled panelling of pollard oak with ebonised details between each panel. Down each side there is a carved floral motif. Opening the fall front, that is attached to the interior so when the desk opens the interior comes forward. The fall front is set with three leather covered angled writing pads. Each have a deep purple writing pad with gilt and tooled decoration. The writing pads lift up to add extra storage areas. To the back of the secretaire, it is fitted with mahogany pigeon holes, small drawers, pen stands and small storage areas. To the base there is two cupboards, again these have panelled doors with ebonised details between the planks. Inside the cupboards there is a single shelf so there is plenty of storage in there. The whole secretaire is raised on a caddy plinth. The secretaire desk dates to around 1850, and is of real quality.
