Description
A Large Victorian Scumble Glazed Painted Pine Country House Cupboard Cabinet
A large Victorian scumble glazed or painted pine country house or estate pantry cupboard, cabinet or larder. The cupboard is made from pine, which has been scumbled or painted. The paint work it has had was to make it look like another wood by painting grain and patina onto it. The cupboard is formed with it having two large cupboards each with two two panelled doors. The top section is the larger of the two. It has panelled doors and exposed hinge edges. There is the original brass handle on the door. Twisting the handle to open the cupboard it is fitted with two wooden shelf’s which again have had the front edges of the shelfs painted with a grain. This gives excellent interior storage. The boot of section is smaller and once open has a single shelf but still lots of storage. The back of the cabinet is panelled in pine boarding. The whole cabinet is raised on turned and tapering front legs and just turned back legs these are all ebonised. The cabinet dates to around 1860, and by the looks and size it was out of a country house or large estate house, ideal for storage.

Condition
The condition of the cabinet is very good, with light scuffs and marks and rubbing to the outside in keeping with use it’s had. The legs have had a strengthening section fitted on the inside so are now solid. The bottom right cupboard just catches when shutting but works fine, overall an excellent cupboard ready to be used.
