A Large Quality Georgian Inlaid Mahogany Linen Press over Chest Base

A large quality Georgian inlaid mahogany linen press, raised over Chest Base and with fitted interior. The linen press is made from mahogany, which has a great colour and grain patination to it. The linen press is formed with the top section having two doors. Each door has a central panel, which is Inlaid with fans to each corner and then a large oval ring inlaid on the door. Opening the doors it is set with five clothes slides to the right hand side, each still lined in there original blue lining. The left hand side is lined in linen and has a clothes rail to the top. The left hand side has a deeper than normal drop. The base of the linen press has two short drawers, raised over two full length storage drawers. The left hand drawer is dummy, this gives the extra depth inside for dresses etc. The right hand drawer is half the side and again lined in the blue paper. Each drawer is Inlaid around the edge in satinwood. The whole linen press is raised on bracket feet. The top of the linen press is a stepped top, Inlaid with a satinwood strip. The whole linen press is of a great quality and very useful item. The linen press dates to around 1820-30. It splits onto two section for ease of moving.

Condition
The condition of the linen press is excellent, with light scuffs and marks, it has been sympathetically restored. There are a few old cracks in the panels which are solid. A few old veneer repairs but nothing major. The doors have had a repair, but we have left it so you can see it to show the presses age and not make it look overdone. Overall ready to be placed and used.
