Description
A Pair of C19th Carved and Painted Oak Hall Chairs
A pair of C19th carved and painted oak hall or side chairs, raised on barleytwist supports. The chairs are made from oak, which has been painted in a dark grey to blue colour. The painted finish has worn in places giving a great contrast and worn effect between the paint and oak. The chairs are formed with the back rest being supported with barleytwists, reeded columns and with carved leaves and swirls around the top and bottom. The seat base has a carved edge and stepped edge. The seat base is carved and incised with a floral motif. The pair of chairs are raised on barleytwist supports and cross stretchers along with carved motifs. The pair of chairs date to around 1880, but the painted finish is later but done to a great standard adding a charm and modern feel to the chairs.
