An Unusual Victorian James Reilly Mahogany Armchair with Double Casters
An unusual Victorian mahogany and upholstered armchair, by James Reilly with his different double caster patent casters. The chair large fireside armchair is made from mahogany which has a great rich colour and grain patination. The chair is formed with the back having reeded edges and scrolling top. The back has then been deeply padded and upholstered in a red material which has stylised designs on it. The chairs seat is deep an again deeply padded and upholstered in the same material. The arms on the chairs are supported with turned columns and a scrolling front support. The tops of the arm rests are also padded and upholstered in the same material. The back of the chair is also covered in the same material. The chair is raised on large turned front legs and angled back legs. The chair is the set with the unusual James Reilly Patent double casters. The chair also has the usual James Reilly design of bolt back legs. The casters are marked for Reilly Patent. The chair probably dates to around 1880.
